Venice Biennale | Art Portfolio | Bon Int No.19 S/S 2011

For the Bon International Spring/Summer 2011 issue I invited exclusive contributions from Andreas Eriksson, Jennifer Allora and Guillermo Calzadilla, Steven Shearer, Angel Vergara, Andrei Monastyrski and the 'Collective Actions' for a unique Art portfolio on the 54th Venice Biennale.

Since 1895 art aficionados have embarked on an important pilgrimage to the watery city of Venice to experience the most prestigious event in the art calendar. Taking place every 2 years, selected artists have the honoured task of representing their country at La Biennale di Venezia. Mainly located in the splendid Giardini di Castello, the Biennale in recent years has spread to the nearby Venetian shipyards, the Arsenale, lavish Palazzo's, alternative locations and attracted a growing number of collateral events. Art historian and critic Bice Curiger has been appointed this years Director and will curate the 54th International Art Exhibition, ILLUMInations, making Venice your destination of choice come this summer. Over the following pages Bon brings you exclusive insights to what you can expect from some of the most exciting participants who work conceptually across a variety of media.
